Environment

Since 2006 THE YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO.,LTD. has ensured the implementation of the Grand Design 100 (GD100) management plan, which set guidelines for environmental improvements. YOKOHAMA has already seen results from this eco-friendly strategy; the company has reduced output of greenhouse gases by 8.2 percent, exceeding its target of 6 percent. YOKOHAMA’s head office operations have received certification from the International Organisation of Standardisation (ISO), confirming that they meet the ISO 14001 environmental standards. The company has also been awarded the highest possible environmental rating by the Development Banks of Japan.
YOKOHAMA Rubber adopted “delivering the best products at competitive prices and on time” as a basic principle of its GD100 new medium-range management plan launched in FY2006. Contributing to society through the provision of the “best products” contributing to the prevention of global warming is, we believe, an important duty of a manufacturer. In order to achieve this, we have adopted the concrete target of making all tires made and sold by the YOKOHAMA Rubber Group environmentally sound products by FY2017.
